Nominee Materials
Expression of Interest
Once the SOA Board Recruiting and Selection Committee (BRSC) publicly posts the call for nominations for Board elections, a Fellow can submit their name by completing the Expression of Interest Form, which includes a questionnaire, background check and conflict of interest sections. The BRSC and the Board’s external search firm partner review the nominees submitted.
View/download questions included in the Expression of Interest form to help you prepare in advance of your submission.
Questionnaire
An important step in the nomination process is answering a series of questions that assess a nominee’s background against the nine listed skillsets in the skills and experience profile, along with a few additional unrelated questions. If you are nominated, your questionnaire will be reproduced in the election ballot and posted on the SOA website.
Background Checks and Conflict of Interest
The SOA conducts a background check and ABCD verification for President Elect and Vice Chair and Elected Board Member positions. Nominees must complete a conflict of interest (COI) form and a release of information from the ABCD to the SOA to verify certification. Additional country-specific background check forms will be sent after the expression of interest form is submitted to authorize the background check. You are unable to appear on the SOA ballot without completing the information required.
Interviews
If you are selected for an interview, it will be with two members of the SOA Board Recruiting and Selection Committee to answer a series of questions. Interviews are generally 30-45 minutes long (but please block out 60 minutes), conducted virtually and recorded. Recorded interviews are confidential and only used by the SOA Board Recruiting and Selection Committee.
